45 Second Search Yields Lost Ring

Michael and his Wife Emily of Alexandria, VA  were taking a short vacation to visit his 94 year old grandfather in Venice, FL then spend a couple of days at Treasure Island Resort.

Michael and Emily went out to the beach and shortly after arriving Michael went to the waters edge to wash his hands and his wedding ring slipped off his finger and out of sight.  After searching the sand for a while he started googling “how to find gold rings in the sand and came across theringfinders.com website and contacted Tom Jones and asked if someone could help.

Tom met the couple later that afternoon, Michael told Tom exactly where he thought it was and 45 seconds after turning the detector on Tom finds the ring exactly where it it was supposed to be and returned it to the smiling pair.

The couple told Tom, “it is nice to know there are people like your group left in this world.”

This one took 45 seconds to recover.
A very happy couple!

Camper Loses Chain And Crucifix On Anclote Island

Andrew was camping on Anclote Island with friends when he discovered his gold chain with crucifix his grandfather had given him was missing.

When he got home he told mom who was able to find the Suncoast Research and Recovery Club Ringfinders blog.  His mother sent an email requesting help from the club and was contacted by Howard Metts.

Howard and Ed Osmar met Andrew, his mother, and friends that supplied a boat to get us out to the island.  About 30 minutes into the hunt Andrew spotted the chain sticking out of the sand, however the crucifix was not with it.  Ten minutes later Howard Metts got a good signal and came up with the crucifix.   Mom and Andrew were very grateful for the recovery.

Cheerleader loses wedding ring set in oldsmar

Christi leads a cheerleading team in Oldsmar, Florida.  On Wednesday night, prior to practice, she had removed her wedding band and engagement ring and set it on top of her bag.  With darkness falling and practice over, the girls grabbed their bags. Christi gets to her car and reality steps in !!!  My rings !!! Racing back to the corner of the field, no rings were found.

On Thursday, Ryan, her husband was able to borrow a metal detector at work.  Four hours of gridding and searching delivered a big, fat goose egg.

Ryan did some internet searching and was lead to the Suncoast Research and Recovery Club and their team of Ring Finders.  Mark Prue got the call from Ryan on Friday and the three agreed to meet in Oldsmar the following morning.

After dodging a disc golf tournament, dog walkers and a cricket match in progress, Mark started searching the area.  The second target Mark came across found his XP Deus screaming GOLD !!  A quick search with the pinpointer confirmed it.  He pulled the grass aside and there it was !!! He called Christi over, told her to look here …..hugs and tears ensued !!! Another return for the Ring Finders !!

Wedding RING Lost & Then Recovered

Kayl and Stephanie were visiting their grandparents for a short relief from the winter weather in Chicago. It was a windy cold day but Kyle wanted to get into the gulf waters anyway. He ventured out into the rough water and was just contemplating put his head under the water when he saw is wedding ring of 6 months fall to the bottom of the gulf. He was devastated and started looking for it with his toes. After an hour he gave up and they went home.

They found The Ring Finders site on the internet and contacted Stan Flack. Stan posted their request to the SRARC Ring Finders group and Mike Miller relayed it to Jay and Karen Ganz. They met Kayl and Stephanie at the location and Karen did her best in the rough water to find it but was not successful. Karen rescheduled for the next calm water day and Mike met her in Englewood. After about 2 hours Mike was lucky enough to find the ring about 8 inches deep.

When Karen contacted Stephanie she could not believe we had found it. They had given up hope. Jay and Karen connected with Kayl and Stephanie’s Grandparents and returned the ring to them. They sent it on to Kaly and as you can see, the result is nothing but smiles.

He lost his wedding ring at the beach.

SRARC recovered and returned the ring!

As he swatted the ants off of his hand, he felt his precious ring fly off! After a sleepless night, Wes contacted Stan and Stan took a drive out to the area. Within minutes and with excellent details from Wes, the ring was found in the tall grass much to the relief of a pale Wes. Thank you for your service, Wes! Well done, Stan the Man!

WITH HELP FROM FACEBOOK, SUCCESSFUL CLASS RING RETURN ON CLEARWATER BEACH, FLORIDA

Jhazmine was throwing a ball in the water on Clearwater Beach, when her 2006 gold class ring slipped off her finger! The ring was very special to Jhazmine as her father had given it to her. A week later, Howard Metts was on a fun hunt in the water at Clearwater Beach and found a gold 2006 class ring, with no school name on it, only the name “Jhazmine” and three initials on the inside. Howard showed the ring to his daughter-in-law, Veronica Metts, who searched for “Jhazmine” on Facebook, and using the last initial on the ring, found a possible match! Veronica sent Jhazmine a Facebook message asking if she had lost anything at Clearwater Beach. Jhazmine responded the next day! A few days later, Howard delivered the ring to a very happy Jhazmine at her place of work making for a great reunion! Go Team Metts! That’s how you do it! Great sleuthing and effort to both of you!

Family Heirloom Ring Recovered on Indian Rocks Beach, Florida

Future Florida residents, Mike and Courtney Chenkus, were relaxing on the beach at Indian Rocks and decided to have some fun tossing a football. Mike was about waist deep and tossing the ball when he was hit by a large wave and felt his wedding ring slide off his finger, disappearing into the Gulf. The ring had previously belonged to Mike’s father and was over 50 years old, a true family treasure. While devastated by the loss, Mike and Courtney did what they could to mark the location. Later that evening, Mike Googled “lost ring Clearwater” and found the SRARC website. After speaking with team member, Stan Flack, Stan reached out to team member Ed Osmar. Ed & Mike then arranged a hunt. Mike described where he thought the ring was lost. Ed factored in the tide change and conditions and after about 30 minutes was happily returning the ring to Mike! Courtney happened to be videoing the special moment on her cell phone! The entire family was extremely grateful and excited to see the ring back on Mike’s hand! Nice work, Ed!

NOT …. HOPELESS IN CLEARWATER BEACH WITH RECOVERED RING!

Having unsuccessfully hunted for Sarah’s ring several weeks previously, SRARC Ring Finder member, Stan Flack, had recommended that Sarah put an ad on Craigslist with just enough detail to describe her ring, a general location in hope that another detectorist might have already found it and would see it on Craigslist.

Fast forward two weeks later, SRARC Ring Finder member, Mike Shuler, was out for a fun hunt, unaware of the existence of this ring or that anyone was looking for it. Mike hit a loud unfamiliar tone, and two scoops later he was holding the nicest ring he had ever found! When Mike got home, he went straight to Craigslist’s Lost & Found section and typed in “platinum” and was instantly looking at a photo of the ring in his hand!

In the ad, the owner said she had lost the ring exactly three weeks earlier, while playing catch with her kids in the water. Sarah had received a number of disappointing responses, so she didn’t reply the first time Mike tried to contact her. Once Mike said he was affiliated with SRARC, Sarah contacted Mike. Even then, Sarah wanted to see a picture of the ring. Mike sent her a couple of photos, to which Sarah responded with this message:

“I cannot believe you have found my ring! I am overcome with emotion. I thought I would never see it again. Let me gather myself together and I will call you to discuss how we can get it back to me. I truly can’t thank you enough. You are testament that there are still good people in the world. You are truly a blessing. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

Just goes to show you to never give up on those lost rings because you just never know. Very proud to have you on the team, Mike!
