Ring Lost At Fort Desoto, Recovered By SRARC

Ana and Paul came to Ft Desoto to spend some quite time at the beach. They set up at the Bay pier and relaxed in the sun. After a while they went into the water and started to toss a small ball back and forth. As we have often seen, Ana was catching the ball when her engagement ring flew off into the water. They looked for hours and even purchased a small metal detector to try and find the ring. What a devastating loss while trying to save for the wedding this coming January. The next day they found the SRARC ring finders online and contacted Joe Szemer. Joe put a callout to the volunteers and Mike Miller answered the call. The time was set for 10:00 am and Mike arrived early. Using a location provided by Paul from Google Earth he went to work early and found the ring before Paul arrived to narrow the search. As Paul was showing Mike where to focus the hunt, Mike pulled the ring from his pouch and asked Paul if it looked like the right ring. He was overwhelmed and could not believe it was found. Because they were both wearing masks you couldn’t see the smiles but we know they were there. Best wishes for your future together Ana and Paul from the SRARC Ring Finders.

Ring Lost At Anna Maria Island, Recovered By SRARC

Scott and his Laurie came to their favorite spot on Anna Maria Island from Brandon to enjoy their 39th wedding anniversary at the beach. They set up their chairs at the edge of the tide line and just relaxed for a couple hours and then decided to take a walk down the beach.. After returning, Scott noticed his ring finger was swollen so he decided to remove his wedding ring and put on his little finger. They stayed a few more hours and then headed home. After arriving home, Scott noticed his ring was gone. Thinking back he remembered hearing a tink sound while setting in the chair and came to the conclusion that it must have been his ring hitting the chair. They headed back to the spot the next morning with rakes and shovels to try and find the ring. They had no luck but as they worked a local beach gower asked what they were doing. When she discovered it was a lost ring she directed them to the SRARC Ring Finders. They called Joe Szemer and Joe called Mike Miller to meet them right away while they were still at the beach. It took just a minute for Mike to find the ring and return it to a very happy couple.

Sreeraj was jogging near his home when he felt his gold wedding band slip off his finger and saw it fly into the grass next to the path he was on. Sreeraj and his wife spent two hours combing through the grass, but had no luck in recovering the sentimental ring. Sreeraj turned to the internet and located SRARC. He contacted the club’s president, Howard Metts, who put out an announcement to the Ringfinders. Ed Osmar answered the call and arranged for a hunt the next morning. He was joined by Mike Shuler. Sreeraj took Ed and Mike to the spot where the loss occurred, and after just a few swings of the detector, Mike got a strong signal and saw the gold peeking through the grass! The happiness and relief were evident on Sreeraj’s face, and he thanked Ed and Mike several times on the walk back to his residence.

Ring Lost on Clearwater Beach. Recovered By SRARC.

Michael and his friends, Fonzie and Caden, were throwing the ball in waist-deep water at Clearwater Beach. Michael was wearing a gold cross on a chain which was handed down to him by his father, who had received it when he was 16 years old. The chain came off, and as it fell, Fonzie managed to catch it, but the cross fell into the water. All three boys searched until dark, but were unable to locate the heirloom cross. Caden’s parents knew Mike and Mary Shuler were metal detectorists and told them about the situation. Mike responded to the site with fellow detectorist Ed Osmar, but the cross was not found. Mike decided to wait until the evening low tide and invite more help. That’s when Mike Miller, Howard Metts, Bill Gallant, and Mike’s wife, Mary, joined the hunt. After two hours of hunting in the rough water, Mike Miller came up with the cross! We’re very glad that Michael is reunited with this beautiful family heirloom!

Josh and his family were visiting friends at Reddington Shores. As he and his daughter were swimming in the deep water in front of the sand bar, his daughter accidentally kicked Josh’s hand, sending his wedding band to the bottom. After unsuccessfully combing through the sand with his toes, Josh considered buying a metal detector. Phil Meyers, the owner of a metal detector shop in Tampa, told him about SRARC and Ringfinders. Josh contacted Joe Szemer, who put out an announcement to the Ringfinder group. Bill Gallant, Ed Osmar, Mike Shuler, and Rob Clarke responded to the site. After about 45 minutes, Ed said he had a very promising signal, and sure enough, it turned out to be Josh’s ring! Josh met the group at the beach, and was beaming when Ed handed him his wedding band!
