Stolen Jewelry Thrown In Water, Recovered By SRARC

Louise and several neighbors had their homes burglarized and a lot of jewelry stolen. After finding several pieces around a community pond, she contacted Howard Metts to arrange a hunt. Dane Trask hunted for about an hour and found and returned many vintage pieces which police verified belonging to Louise’s family. Great job Dane! Hopefully the HOA will allow us to return to continue the search as more items are yet to be found.

Ring Lost In Bradenton, Recovered By SRARC

Carl was washing the dog in his driveway in Bradenton. As he scrubbed, his hand flew up and his ring went flying out into the yard. This was his step fathers wedding ring given to him by Carl’s mother. It had been handed down to Carl after his mother had passed. Carl was very close to his step father who came into the family with a very interesting past. The family was living in Germany during Hitler’s rise and Carl’s step father and one brother were able to escape to the USA but lost all other family members in Auschwitz. He joined the US armed forces and ended up in the 101 Airborne Division. He fought at the Battle of the Bulge and also the capture of Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest. Carl held this ring with great respect and was heartbroken over it’s loss. Carl goggled the internet and found SRARC ring finders and was shortly connected with Howard Mett’s. Howard called for a hunt and Mike Miller responded. Mike met Carl at the site and Carl described where he thought the ring had landed. After going over the area several times with no luck we were loosing hope. Mike started checking the flower beds that were close to the area but nothing popped out. They started ripping the shrubs out so more of the ground could be covered and as the last of the bushes came Mike got a good hit. Carl was overjoyed as Mike help the ring up. Needless to say, Carl was grinning from ear to ear. SRARC is proud to return something so important to Carl but also to help keep the memory alive of one of our brave military veterans.

Ring Lost On Siesta Key, Recovered By SRARC

Harma stepped out of her back door on Siesta Key to call her dog back inside. As dogs sometime do, it refused to come in so she went out to wave it in. She waved her hand toward the door and off flew a very precious ring into the night. Harma and her husband both searched the yard but had no luck at all. She remembered that her friend and neighbor Leslie had recently lost a ring and it was recovered by a local group called the SRARC ring finders. She contacted Howard Metts and Mike Miller responded to the callout. Mike searched for about an hour and was loosing hope but decided to change coils and research the area. In short order he got a promising hit and sure enough out came the ring. This was not just any ring, it was her grandfathers wedding band which had been passed down to her and she was just heart broken that she had lost it. If you look closely you will see the wedding date of in Holland of 14/8/15. SRARC is ever so happy to have returned this precious heirloom to Harma.

RING LOST IN BRADENTON, RECOVERED BY SRARC

Diane is down for a few months to her winter home in Bradenton from Rochester, New York. She was digging a new flower bed in her back yard and when she finished she discovered an important ring was missing from her finger. The ring had been her mothers who had passed when Diane was only four year old. She had been wearing it her whole life and was just devastated when it went missing. She called her sister who came over and helped her look but they just could not find it. Later that evening while searching for a place to rent a metal detector she found the SRARC ring finders. She contacted Joe Szemer and he lined up Mike Miller to go hunt the 2’ by 5’ patch where the ring was thought to have been lost. Mike arrived the next morning and the ring was quickly found and returned. It is always a great feeling to return a precious item like this and share the joy and appreciation with the person who is so grateful to have it back again. Congratulations Diane!!!!!!!!!

Ring Lost On Anna Maria Island Recovered By SRARC

Kathy and Steve were staying on Anna Maria Island for a week with their Daughter Katelyn and Son-in-law Jesse. On Wednesday afternoon they were all out at the beach enjoying the water and sun. As they tossed a football around while standing in waist deep water, Jesse felt his wedding ring slip off and watched it fall into the water. They all kept their wits about them. Katelyn was standing right next to Jesse when the ring came off, so she stayed right there, and the others searched all around her. They soon realized that they would most likely not find it. Kathy googled for help finding a lost ring and up popped the SARAC ring finders’ group. While Katelyn stood right where the ring had dropped, Steve went back to shore and retrieved a fishing pole holder. He returned to where Katelyn was standing and planted it into the sand so the location would not be lost. Mike responded to the callout and was soon on site. He hunted around the marker and kept expanding the search area. Finally, he decided to do a grid search covering about 40 ft each side of the marker. Starting in the deeper water and working in toward the shore. After about 45 minutes he was back to the area just shore side of the marker. As he approached the marker again, he stopped and asked Jesse why he felt that the marker was where he had been when the ring was lost. He said because his wife was standing where they had been, and she never moved until the marker was in place. Mike took one step after that and there it was about 3 feet from the marker. He couldn’t believe he had been over that area at least twice before and missed it. Jesse was very happy to see the ring come up and broke out into a great big smile. He said, “I think my wife will start talking to me again”, and when you look at the picture of her when she found out it was back on his finger, I think he is right. Now they have a great story and can enjoy the rest of their vacation.

Ring Lost On Anna Maria Island, Recovered By SRARC

Forrest, Alicia, and daughter Eliana along with Brother-in-law Derek and Annemarie were vacationing from Indiana and Chicago on Anna Maria Island. They spent the whole afternoon on the beach and playing in the gulf. Around 4:00 pm they packed up and headed to their rental unit. Shortly after arriving Forrest noticed his wedding ring was missing. They retraced their steps and search on the sand but did not find it. That evening Derek found the SRARC ring finders and made arrangements for a group to come out and search for the ring. Mike Shuler, Ed Osmar, Carl Boekemier, and Mike Miller met them a the beach. Since Forrest had know idea when or where the ring had come off a very large area of dry sand and water needed to be searched. They focused on the sand first and then moved into the water. After hunting for about 2 hours Mike Miller got the hit and up came the missing ring. Forrest was back at the rental so Derek gave him a call and he raced out to the beach. As we returned his ring he chocked up with joy and the whole group was nothing but big smiles. SRARC is happy to have made another vacation end as a happy one.
