Lost Ring Recovered In Anclote Key

Howard Metts received a call from a Jeweler who had a client that just lost a ring he had made. He had found our SRARC Ringfinders website and was hoping we could help. Howard contacted the owner who stated the ring was in a koozie on the boat while anchored off Anclote key and found its way overboard. Howard scheduled a hunt for the next day. The team of four Howard Metts, Dimitur Alipiev, Ed Osmar, and Rob Clarke hunted for about 3 hours in the water. Finally Howard came up with the beautiful ring! The owners were both amazed and very thankful for the recovery. Great job Team!

Lost Ring Recovered From Lido Beach

I met Laurel, the owner of Island Style Watersports and professional kayak guide at Ted Sterling Park to look for a ring her client lost the day before. According to Laurel, she was guiding a family through a mangrove tunnel when the husband’s kayak overturned.  He didn’t realize his wedding band was gone until returning to land, but Laurel was certain it came off as his hand was grabbing at overhead branches in an attempt to stay on the kayak. It turned out she was right and a few minutes later we were looking at a large white gold band in a scoop full of oyster shells!

Lost Wedding Ring Set Recovered in Cypress Gardens

I am so blessed to have met these three men, Joe, Ed, and Mike.. On a Sunday afternoon, my husband and had just anchored the boat to let the kids get out and swim a bit. I was second to last to get off, we do not have a ladder for our pontoon but it was only a small drop to the 3 foot of water so i sat at the edge and went to kick off when my foot slipped on the pontoon. I still had my left hand on the door of the boat! My hand slid down the crease and my 3 rings were caught on the hinge! I could feel the sharp metal pierce my fingers and I was stuck, standing on my tippy toes, but hanging from one of my rings, out of instinct i snatched my hand and there went my rings into the water. 2 out of 3 that is, the 3rd one was still there but a bit mangled. My hand was covered in blood, it looked like i stuck my hand in a food processor. I wasn’t concerned about the pain, I wanted to find my rings, but being a nurse I was concerned about the bacteria in the lake water that could infect my wounds. My husband helped me back on the boat and the search began, literally 5 hours later and no luck. I would have stayed longer but the Florida weather would not allow and we had to get the kids back to dry land. It really had not sunk in, that my rings were gone, my hand was bandaged up and throbbing. I called the one person who I knew would feel my pain and help calm me down and come up with a solution. My sister Amanda went to work and thanks to the modern day internet she found this website www.TheRingFinders.com, she was contacted by a gentleman named Joe who was eager to help and provided her with the contact info for another hunter named Mike Miller. I was in shock to find out that there was actually professional help out there for someone like me. I looked up the website and read the amazing stories from people just like me, who’s hearts were broken and they too thought they had lost it all. I called Mike right away and he asked a few questions and was very optimistic. We set a date for Saturday morning to meet at the dock. 6 days after the incident, I was still hopeful and had faith. I contacted Mike the night before to confirm and was informed, there would be not 1 or 2 but 3 hunters coming to my rescue!!! Well the rest I’m sure you can figure out, my prayers were answered! I will be forever grateful!! I will tell this story for years and let others know, if they are as unfortunate as I, there is Hope, thank you Suncoast Research and Recovery Club!

Lost Gold Wedding Ring Recovered From Anna Maria Island

Dan and Sue were vacationing on Anna Marie Island over the Forth of July week with their kids. They were having a great time until Thursday evening when Dan was in about 3 feet of water with the kids and was trying to feel for shells in the sand. As he lifted his hand from the sand he felt his wedding ring slipping off his finger. He quickly pushed his hand back to the sand to try and trap the ring but it flew off before he could save it. The whole family frantically searched for the ring and other beach goers joined in to where they had 12 people looking at one point. They couldn’t find it and returned to their room that night and tried to think what could be done to get the ring back. Eventually Dan found Ring Finders on the internet and contacted Howard Metts. Howard put out an email to the club hunters and Mike Miller responded that he happened to be in the area and could meet them at the beach right away. After hunting for about an hour Mike got the good signal and called Dan and Sue over. He said I think this is it. It sounds really good but just in case I’m wrong, when I dig, it could also be a pull tab so don’t be disappointed. Mike dug and shook the sand out or the scoop and caught a glimpse of gold. He moved the scoop over to Dan and said “I think I see gold in there” Dan looked and saw nothing. Mike said “dig around in the shells a little bit”. Dan started digging and instantly found his lost wedding ring. Both Dan and Sue are overjoyed to have his ring back. It was solid smiles all around with the whole family.

Ring Recovery on Gulf Of Mexico Beach

Colin and Christina were down from Toronto with their 2 children finally getting to enjoying a nice sunny beach day after the recent cold snap.

Christina took off her rings to apply sun lotion to her kids and set them next to her on the beach towel. As some time passed she took the towel and shook off the sand and forgot she had left the rings on the towel. Panic ensued and after a frantic 30 minutes of looking, Colin googled metal detectors thinking he could rent one to look when SRARC’s web page came up. Colin called member Stan Flack who lives only minutes from where they were and Stan headed out as soon as possible.

Upon arrival, Stan found a teared eyed and distraught Christina. After a few details on what had happened, Stan started to work and within just a few minutes, both rings were recovered.

More water works from Christina a high five from Colin and hugs from the kids and all was right with Christina’s world again.

As always, it was our pleasure.
