Wedding RING Lost & Then Recovered

Kayl and Stephanie were visiting their grandparents for a short relief from the winter weather in Chicago. It was a windy cold day but Kyle wanted to get into the gulf waters anyway. He ventured out into the rough water and was just contemplating put his head under the water when he saw is wedding ring of 6 months fall to the bottom of the gulf. He was devastated and started looking for it with his toes. After an hour he gave up and they went home.

They found The Ring Finders site on the internet and contacted Stan Flack. Stan posted their request to the SRARC Ring Finders group and Mike Miller relayed it to Jay and Karen Ganz. They met Kayl and Stephanie at the location and Karen did her best in the rough water to find it but was not successful. Karen rescheduled for the next calm water day and Mike met her in Engle wood. After about 2 hours Mike was lucky enough to find the ring about 8 inches deep.

When Karen contacted Stephanie she could not believe we had found it. They had given up hope. Jay and Karen connected with Kayl and Stephanie’s Grandparents and returned the ring to them. They sent it on to Kaly and as you can see, the result is nothing but smiles.

He lost his wedding ring at the beach.
The Lost Ring
SRARC recovered and returned the ring!

Lost Ring Recovered on Siesta Key Beach, Florida

Brent & Lindsay are visiting from San Diego, California for a few months while Brent works with his Dad.  On weekends they enjoy our Florida West Coast beaches with Siesta Key Beach being their favorite.  On Sunday, May 29th, Brent felt his wedding ring fall off while he was swimming.  Unable to find the ring with a diving mask, Brent found SRARC on the website. Ringfinder member Wayne Cree went on a recovery mission the next day, Memorial Day.  After an extensive search spanning two large areas and over two plus hours of hunting, Wayne’s tenacity resulted in Brent’s ring in his scoop! Brent, Lindsay and the entire family were very ecstatic to have the ring back on Brent’s finger!

Engagement Ring Lost, Found, and Returned on Longboat Key, Florida

Jeoff and Kaylie were visiting his parents on Longboat Key for spring break from Medical school in Illinois where Jeoff is studying to be a heart surgeon. They had recently become engaged and it was a good time to just relax and enjoy each other. They went out onto the sand in front of the condo and put some chairs out, then placed their towels over the chairs. Kaylie took off her engagement ring and set it on her towel to put suntan lotion on and when done forgot all about her ring. After a short time lying in the sun they decided to go for a walk down the beach. When they returned the wind had blown their towels off of the chairs onto the sand. It was then that Kaylie remembered she had left her ring on the towel. They began frantically looking for the ring and soon Jeoff’s parents and several other condo owners joined in sifting through the sand. They also found a metal detector rental place and tried to find it with a detector but the detector seemed to beep all the time and they never found anything so they gave that up. They searched all day and later that evening Jeoff found the Suncoast Research and Recovery Club (SRARC) ring finders page on the internet. He contacted Mike and they set a time to meet the following morning. When Mike arrived Jeoff showed him a nicely marked area where they had been sitting. About 4 steps and 6 swings later Mike found the ring. Jeoff, Kaylie, and his Mom and Dad, were amazed at how easily it was found after they had spent all day trying to find it. There were smiles all around and Mike’s was as big as Kaylie’s and Jeoff’s. All of us at SRARC wish nothing but the best for these two and hope they have many happy years together.

Hope Ring Lost, Found, and Returned on Venice Beach, Florida

The 100th Return for Jay and Karen Ganz

While vacationing with my daughter in FL, I took my ring off to put sunscreen on. I got up to attend to my three year-old and forgot my ring was on my lap. I didn’t realize the ring fell into the sand until an hour later when we were packing the car to leave. My father and I went back and combed the beach with our hands and feet for over an hour with no luck. That night I was sick to my stomach…the ring wasn’t a material possession, it was a ring I made for myself in 2014 when my daughter and I moved back to NJ from WA state, a new 2-person duo. When faced with being a single mom I told myself, “You got this” and I traded in some jewelry I no longer used to have a hope ring made. Two years later the ring was now gone. The next morning, I texted the local Ring Finders chapter and a friendly voice called me back saying her name was Karen and her husband Jay and she would love to help. I asked about the fee and she said there’s no charge but I could donate to their chapter if I wanted. They changed their existing plans and met me at Venice Beach not much later. In less than 5 minutes Karen found my ring. The next day was Thanksgiving and I couldn’t help but be thankful for my path crossing with Karen and Jay…it wasn’t the ring being returned that I was as grateful for, as it was meeting such genuinely giving people and knowing that selfless people still exist in the world. I thank them for finding my ring, but more importantly Karen and Jay showing me true kindness.

Congratulations Jay and Karen on 100 rings returned over your detecting careers. That is an AWESOME accomplishment!!!!!!!!!

Wedding Ring lost, Found, and Returned on Siesta Key, Florida

Jesse and Grisel decided to take a short weekend break on Siesta Key to spend some quality time with just each other. On their first evening at the hotel they decide to walk to the beach and enjoy the beautiful sunset. They found a place where they could sit in the sand close to the water and just enjoy each others presence as the sun dropped into the gulf. When they stood up, Jesse was brushing the sand off of his bottom when he felt his wedding ring slip off of his finger.

They looked every where and sifted through the sand thinking they would find it, but it was not to be. Jesse remembered a guy he once talked to that had recovered rings with a metal detector and decided to see if he could find someone on the internet. He googled find ring with metal detector and up popped The Ring Finders. He found the local SRARC ring finders group and called Stan Flack. Stan Called Mike Miller who then set up a recovery hunt for the next morning. Mike showed up at 7:00 am and met Jesse and his wife Grisel at the beach where they took him to the spot the ring had been lost. In a minute the ring was found and returned.

Both Jesse and Grisel were extremely happy along with Mike. We all left the beach together and walked to a restaurant where we enjoyed getting to know each other over a wonderful breakfast.

SRARC is always very pleased when we can successfully recover a cherished item for someone.

Lost Ring Found and Returned on Siesta Key Beach, It is Number 99 for Jay and Karen Ganz

Ron’s Brother in law was playing football on the beach when his tungsten wedding band flew off in the water.
After franticly searching for the ring with no luck, Ron contacted Tom Jones for help. No club members were available at the time so Tom called another member of theringfinders.com in Manatee County to help. After two days not hearing anything back Tom called Ron to see if the ring was found and learned that it was not. Tom called Karen Ganz and asked her if she could possibly help. Karen gladly contacted Ron and met up with them the next morning. After hunting the area that the ring was thought to be in for over an hour, Karen moved into ankle deep water and located the ring.

Congratulations Karen & Jay. Only one more to your goal of 100 returned rings in you detecting career. It looks like you will exceed that long ago set goal. You two are a great example of all the good people we have participating in our hobby.

Lost and Found Wedding Ring Returned at Siesta Key, Florida

As he walked out of the water, Zane realized he had lost his wedding ring. Devastated, he told his wife and then all the family joined in the search but with no luck. They had all come to Florida from Atlanta, Georgia to enjoy the beaches and then take the kids to Disney World so this event was just not in the plan.

Zane had been tossing a football in the water with his brother and never felt the ring come off his finger. His sister-in-law Kimberly immediately googled lost ring Sarasota and SRARC popped up on The Ring Finders. She contacted Tom who passed her on to Mike. They had people waiting in the area that the ring was lost but they needed to leave for their trip to Orlando soon. Mike headed down to Siesta Key right away and arrived as they began to pack up their beach gear. After getting the lay of the land, Mike went to work and after about 30 minutes the ring came back out of the water and into Zane’s hand. Zane was all smiles and they all were soon on their way to Disney world I’m sure to the children’s delight.

Diamond Wedding Ring Lost, Found and Returned on Longboat Key, Florida

Kara and Joe were visiting Long Boat Key from Oklahoma City. They went out to the beach behind the condo where they were staying with their family. Kara handed her husband Joe her wedding band while she was putting sun screen on her daughter. Joe put the ring on his little finger so as not to lose it. After a while, Kara remembered that she had given her ring to Joe asked for it back. That is when Joe realized that the ring had fallen off. He knew that it couldn’t be far since he had not moved from the area by the umbrella.

They got a sand sifter and started sifting but no luck, they could not find the ring. Joe googled metal detector rental and contacted Phil Myers’s Detector Depot in Tampa who referred him to Tom Jones. Joe contacted Tom and asked for his help. They had circled the beach chairs around the area and kept a vigil till Tom could get to the site. Tom arrived and headed out to the beach with Kara. She pointed out the hole in the sand where the umbrella had been and said that the ring had to be somewhere around it. Tom turned on his detector and started hunting around the hole, once he circled the hole he swung the coil over the umbrella hole and got a hit, he yelled out “it’s in the hole”. He kicked some sand out of the hole with his foot and Kara’s brother in law who was watching intently said, “there it is” as he reached down and picked up the ring.

Needless to say Kara started jumping up and down as she ran to Tom and hugged him.

Wedding Ring Lost and Found at Siesta Key Beach, Sarasota, Florida

Chris body surfed into the beach on tropical storm Colin’s waves, rolled over and then felt his wedding ring slip off of his finger and disappear into the ocean forever.

Chris and Michelle finally got away for a long awaited vacation to the warm waters of Florida this week. Then Tropical Storm Colin showed up to wreak it and then Chris lost his ring making this vacation a disaster. A couple of hours later Michelle googled “lost ring Siesta Key” and up popped SRARC on The Ring Finders. She contacted Tom and he passed her onto Mike Miller. Mike set a hunt up for the next day at 5:00 pm. Mike and Mark Sillence showed up and went to work after a few instructions from Michelle and Chris. About 10 minutes later Mike got lucky and pulled the ring from the surf. Chris and Michelle were overjoyed and we at SRARC are happy to report that with the ring returned and the weather turning much nicer the vacation will turn out to be a fond memory with a good story to share with friends and family. Team SRARC just keeps collecting those smiles.

Lost Wedding Ring Found and Returned on Siesta Key Beach, Florida

Bobby and family came down to Florida from Brooklyn, NY for a warm spring break. They were out on the beach in front of their condo taking in the sun when Bobby and his daughter started tossing a ball around  as he was backing into the water. As he tossed the ball one more time, off came his wedding ring. The whole family searched but there was no finding the ring. Bobby searched on the internet and SRARC popped up. He contacted Tom and we scheduled a hunt for the next morning. Paul Hill, Wayne Cree, and Mike Miller showed up to meet Bobby at 9:00 the next morning. Bobby filled them in on where they had been tossing the ball and how deep he thought he was. In about 10 minutes, Paul found the ring. Bobby was very excited to have his ring back and commented that they would now be able to enjoy the rest of their holiday and the trip home. We enjoyed the big smile on his face and couldn’t be happier that we could give him his ring back. Great job guy’s!!!!!!!
