Family Heirloom Ring Recovered on Indian Rocks Beach, Florida

Future Florida residents, Mike and Courtney Chenkus, were relaxing on the beach at Indian Rocks and decided to have some fun tossing a football. Mike was about waist deep and tossing the ball when he was hit by a large wave and felt his wedding ring slide off his finger, disappearing into the Gulf. The ring had previously belonged to Mike’s father and was over 50 years old, a true family treasure. While devastated by the loss, Mike and Courtney did what they could to mark the location. Later that evening, Mike Googled “lost ring Clearwater” and found the SRARC website. After speaking with team member, Stan Flack, Stan reached out to team member Ed Osmar. Ed & Mike then arranged a hunt. Mike described where he thought the ring was lost. Ed factored in the tide change and conditions and after about 30 minutes was happily returning the ring to Mike! Courtney happened to be videoing the special moment on her cell phone! The entire family was extremely grateful and excited to see the ring back on Mike’s hand! Nice work, Ed!

NOT …. HOPELESS IN CLEARWATER BEACH WITH RECOVERED RING!

Having unsuccessfully hunted for Sarah’s ring several weeks previously, SRARC Ring Finder member, Stan Flack, had recommended that Sarah put an ad on Craigslist with just enough detail to describe her ring, a general location in hope that another detectorist might have already found it and would see it on Craigslist.

Fast forward two weeks later, SRARC Ring Finder member, Mike Shuler, was out for a fun hunt, unaware of the existence of this ring or that anyone was looking for it. Mike hit a loud unfamiliar tone, and two scoops later he was holding the nicest ring he had ever found! When Mike got home, he went straight to Craigslist’s Lost & Found section and typed in “platinum” and was instantly looking at a photo of the ring in his hand!

In the ad, the owner said she had lost the ring exactly three weeks earlier, while playing catch with her kids in the water. Sarah had received a number of disappointing responses, so she didn’t reply the first time Mike tried to contact her. Once Mike said he was affiliated with SRARC, Sarah contacted Mike. Even then, Sarah wanted to see a picture of the ring. Mike sent her a couple of photos, to which Sarah responded with this message:

“I cannot believe you have found my ring! I am overcome with emotion. I thought I would never see it again. Let me gather myself together and I will call you to discuss how we can get it back to me. I truly can’t thank you enough. You are testament that there are still good people in the world. You are truly a blessing. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

Just goes to show you to never give up on those lost rings because you just never know. Very proud to have you on the team, Mike!

Birthday & Anniversary Saved by Ring Recovered on Clearwater Beach, Florida

Visiting from New Jersey, Joe and his family were enjoying an evening at Clearwater Beach. Joe and his wife Gena, were celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary and Joe’s 40th birthday! Once Joe got back to the beach house around 9 p.m., he noticed his ring was missing. Joe spent a miserable night thinking about his ring and the next day decided to Google “lost ring.” That’s where he found SRARC on the Internet and called Ring Finder team member Stan Flack. A hunt was arranged for later that day. Stan along with Ring Finder members Ed Osmar, Paul Hill, Mark Sillence and Jerry Schneider met with Joe and started hunting a wide area that included the water and sand. After about 15 minutes into the hunt, Stan came up with the ring, much to the delight of Joe! Hugging everyone and smiling, Joe exclaimed, “this is the best birthday present I could wish for.” Nice work, guys! We all wish Joe & Gena many healthy & happy anniversaries and birthdays together. This one will certainly be memorable!

Lost Ring Recovered in Redington Beach

John & his wife Kaylee were vacationing from Ft. Worth, Texas (he’s originally from Wesley Chapel) when John lost his wedding ring playing volleyball in the water.  John contacted Tom Jones who passed the information on to member, Stan Flack. Stan promptly headed to the beach from his office. John’s mother-in-law, Zee, assisted in directing Stan where she thought she saw them playing. After an intense 45 minute hunt, Stan came up with the young engineer’s ring! John was very appreciative! Way to go, Stan.

CLEARWATER BEACH RING LOST THEN RECOVERED IN FOUR LAPS

Lacy & Brian were enjoying Clearwater Beach on this hot 4th of July weekend. When Lacy went to apply sun tan lotion, she dropped her wedding band and it ricocheted off the lounge chair.  After searching the fine sand for over an hour, the couple decided to Google “lost ring Clearwater Beach” and happened upon SRARC!  Lacy called team member, Stan Flack, who said he could be there in 30 minutes. Stan found the ring in less than a minute and Lacy had her ring back on her hand! All were thrilled and happy they found SRARC!  A special assist to Linda Flack, for rolling Stan out close to the couple’s location and circling the block on an impossible Sunday to find parking on Clearwater Beach!

Wedding Ring Lost at Ceremony Found and returned at Redington Beach, Florida

April and Tony came to Florida from Michigan to have a Beach Wedding and were joined by their families on Redington Beach just before sundown for the ceremony. As the ring bearer was making his way to the alter one of the rings fell off the pillow that he was carrying. The ceremony continued without the ring and afterwards someone brought a rake and started searching for the ring. Meagan one of the wedding planners, looked up the Ringfinders knowing that they had helped another couple find a lost ring two years ago on Sunset Beach. She called Tom Jones and asked if anyone could get there before dark to search for the ring. Tom and Joe headed out immediately and called Stan Flack to see if he could help with the hunt.
Upon arrival they ask what metal the ring was made of and got several answers from the family. Some said Silver, White gold and the most common answer was platinum. They started hunting the path that the wedding party had walked but did not find the ring. After expanding the search farther back on the path Tom got a good gold signal and up came the “14 K White Gold” ring. The Bride and Groom were busy with the Wedding Photographer getting pictures as the sun was setting but took time out to show how grateful they were that the ring was found.

Platinum Wedding Ring Lost, Found, and Returned on Madeira Beach, Florida

Erik and his family were enjoying a game of volleyball on Madeira Beach when his wife felt her Platinum 3 ring set slip off her finger. They gathered to whole family around the area and started searching for the rings. One of the group happened to see something shining which was the post and diamond of the engagement ring. After this they started searching with small sifters and found a second ring. They had no luck finding the third. Erik asked someone to google metal detectors and one of the members found a detector APP and downloaded that and hunted with his phone. Then they searched for metal detectors that they could buy. In that search they came across theringfinders.com and called SRARC, talked to Mike Miller then called Tom Jones. Tom agreed to meet them at the beach after dinner. He and Joe Szemer headed out and met up with Erik and his son Jackson. Erik led them to the volleyball court and drew a square in the sand where the first two rings were found and hopefully the third would be found. Tom and Joe started hunting and within minutes the ring was in Tom’s scoop and returned to Erik. Jackson wanted to go back to the condo and trick his mother into thinking that the ring was not found. “Not Recommended”.

Lost Family Ring Found and Returned at Redington Beach, Florida

Randy was at the beach with his family enjoying his last evening of vacation before heading home to Illinois in the morning.  They tossed a football around for a while when Randy felt his ring come off.  He thought he had a good idea where it dropped so they all started sifting  the sand looking for the ring.  After a couple hours of trying, Randy googled lost ring on the internet where he found SRARC’s web page.  Randy shot off a text to the various numbers and Stan Flack responded shortly after receiving the text about 8 p.m.  The two spoke and daylight was nearly gone, but the location was close by so off Stan went with his wife Linda to se if they could recover the ring before it was too dark.  At the beach, Randy gave a general description of the area he was standing and with one wave of his detector, Stan had the ring in his hand.  A very relieve randy explained that the ring was his grandfathers and he was thankful he wouldn’t have to break the news to his grandmother in the morning.  Smiles all the way around.  Always a good feeling.

Lost Wedding Ring Found and Returned on Bellaire Beach, Florida

Katie called SRARC in desperation asking if anyone could help her find her lost wedding ring. She told Tom Jones that she had put both her rings on a shirt and while cleaning her child’s glasses she inadvertently picked up the shirt causing both rings to fall into the loose sand. She dug around and found her engagement ring but could not find her wedding band. After getting some information from Katie, Tom called Ed Osmar and asked if he and Rick Magyar could meet her at the beach and do a search for the ring. Ed met up with Rick and they called Katie and headed out.

45 minutes after Tom had call Ed his phone rang and it was Ed calling. Upon answering Tom was surprised that the voice he heard was not Ed but Katie saying “Tom, thank you so much for hooking me up with this wonderful man.” Rick had found and returned her cherished ring.
