Ed and Christi brought the family down to Anna Maria Island from Saint Lewis to celebrate the successful surgery on their son for a brain tumor. It was a time to celebrate after a very tough year of medical procedures. On their first day they of course had to hit the beach. Ed was bouncing his daughter in the waves as they crashed on to the shore, when he felt his wedding ring slip off. He couldn’t believe his bad luck after such a hard year. The ring had never been off his finger since his wedding day and he searched franticly for hours. That evening he found SRARC Ring Finders and they scheduled a hunt for the following day. Since Mike, Nick, and Joe were already on the island the original hunters handed the hunt off to them. Ed had done a great job of identifying where the ring had come off and he led the team right to the site. In a few minutes Mike got the hit and up came the ring. Ed was overcome and was shaking with delight as the ring was returned to his finger. Our prayers are with Ed and Christi’s son for a speedy and full recovery from his surgery.

Lost Ring Anna Maria Island, Recovered

Kristi and Ronnie were out boating with the whole family on two boats anchored up close to the beach on Anna Maria Island near the Sandbar restaurant. They had been married in that area just one year ago. It was getting pretty hot so Kristi and a few others jumped out of the boat to cool down and then all hell broke loose!!!!! A large swell was breaking onto the shore which almost knocked Kristi off of her feet, throwing her toward the shore. As she struggled to regain her footing, she saw her wedding rings float off of her finger and disappear into the gulf. The whole family searched and searched but could not find them. When they finally had to leave, Kristi was heartbroken. Somehow they discovered SRARC Ring Finders and provided information as to where the rings had been lost. The next day Mike Miller searched with no luck in what turned out to be the wrong place. The following day, after getting more information from Ronnie,
Mike returned and was joined by Joe Borg and Nick Hall. They hunted for two and a half hours and were about to give up when Mike got lucky and found both rings about a foot apart. Kristi drove down from Tampa and met the team where they had just complete another successful hunt. When she got her precious rings back she was shaking with joy. Mike got several big hugs and will never forget the smile on her face. Way to go SRARC team.

Lost Ring Is Recovered At Longboat Key

Jamie and Matt came down to Longboat Key for a one-week vacation with the whole family to get away from the bitter cold in New York and Washington DC. When they arrived, they went out onto the beach to join Mom, Dad, and siblings. Jamie took off her wedding set, put the rings into her shirt pocket and proceeded to lather up the kids with suntan lotion. When done, the started walking down the beach looking for shells.

Apparently as she bent over to pick up shells or to pick up the kids the rings fell out of her shirt pocket. At some point later in the day she remembered her rings were in her pocket, but when she reached for them, they were gone. Her heart sank and she called out to her family that her rings were missing. They searched but had no luck. Later that afternoon Matt found SRARC on the Ring Finders site.

A meeting time for the next morning was arranged and Paul Hill, Ed Osmar, and Mike Miller showed up to search. They were told the just before they arrived one of the rings had been found by Jamie’s brother-in-law, but the engagement ring was still missing. After listening to what had happened and going to the area where the ring had been found a search began. After covering the area around where the one ring had been found the group divided the beach into 3 sections and proceeded to hunt those areas. When Paul got done in his area, he returned to an area close to where the first ring had been found. Sure, enough in a few minutes he got the signal and out came the beautiful engagement ring. We spent just under an hour searching and the payoff was outstanding. We got lots of cheering and a boat load of smiles. Now the whole family and relax for a week in the sun without worrying about the lost rings.

Ring Lost And Recovered At Jewfish Key

Rick and his wife Dale had pulled their boat up to a sand bar near Jewfish Island and were enjoying the ankle-deep water and tossing a football. Suddenly Dale realized that her diamond wedding ring that Rick have placed on her finger 17 years ago was missing. They immediately started feeling through the sand and got everyone nearby to help but to no avail the ring was not found.
Later that evening Rick found The Ringfinder website and contacted Tom Jones. Tom sent out a request for hunters to meet Rick at the nearby boat ramp. Tom Jones and Mike Miller met Rick and went out to the sandbar. Once anchored up Rick walked over to a navigational sign and started counting his steps back toward the boat. After 25 steps or so he stopped and said, “it’s right here in this area” while swinging his arms in a circular motion. Mike started hunting from that spot while Tom was asking Rick the normal questions like which way was she facing, is she right or left handed, did she fall. Mike interrupted with the question. ”What does it look like?” as he pulled the ring out of his scoop.
Rick immediately called Dale to give her the good news that her precious lost ring was found.

Lost Ring Recovered On Anna Maria Island

Forrest and  Sarah headed to Anna Maria Island to enjoy Forrest’s day off. They were just relaxing in the sun, swimming, and then decided to toss a ball around for a while. Forrest was standing in waist deep water and tried a one handed catch. The ball caught the bottom of his wedding ring and lifted it over his knuckle and as his hand flew back the ring spiraled into the gulf. He stood right where he was and people searched around him for several hours. It was not to be found. Forrest contacted SRARC and Mike Miller scheduled a team for the next morning. Mike and Ed Osmar worked for about a hour in neck deep water with no luck and then Mike Shuler arrived and went to work. About a half hour later Shuler yelled “Is it yellow gold?” and held a gold ring into the air. Forrest rushed over and proclaimed “ I can’t believe you found it” Lots of smiles and hugs followed. We are very happy that we were able to return another cherished wedding ring.

Lost Gold Wedding Ring Recovered From Anna Maria Island

Dan and Sue were vacationing on Anna Marie Island over the Forth of July week with their kids. They were having a great time until Thursday evening when Dan was in about 3 feet of water with the kids and was trying to feel for shells in the sand. As he lifted his hand from the sand he felt his wedding ring slipping off his finger. He quickly pushed his hand back to the sand to try and trap the ring but it flew off before he could save it. The whole family frantically searched for the ring and other beach goers joined in to where they had 12 people looking at one point. They couldn’t find it and returned to their room that night and tried to think what could be done to get the ring back. Eventually Dan found Ring Finders on the internet and contacted Howard Metts. Howard put out an email to the club hunters and Mike Miller responded that he happened to be in the area and could meet them at the beach right away. After hunting for about an hour Mike got the good signal and called Dan and Sue over. He said I think this is it. It sounds really good but just in case I’m wrong, when I dig, it could also be a pull tab so don’t be disappointed. Mike dug and shook the sand out or the scoop and caught a glimpse of gold. He moved the scoop over to Dan and said “I think I see gold in there” Dan looked and saw nothing. Mike said “dig around in the shells a little bit”. Dan started digging and instantly found his lost wedding ring. Both Dan and Sue are overjoyed to have his ring back. It was solid smiles all around with the whole family.

Lost Ring Recovered In Bradenton Beach, Florida

Alec was at the beach with family and decided to take a swim and sit down out in the ocean on a shallow area when along came a wave from behind that knocked in to him and pulled his ring off his finger. The entire family came out to help Alec look for his ring. They searched for some time and were amazed how quickly it could disappear and figured it was lost forever. Alec made some mental notes on where he was and googled lost ring and metal detectors on line and came across the SRARC website where he got in contact with Stan Flack. Stan quickly sent out some text to find a team member to try and find Alec’s ring. After some searching, team member Jim Thobe answered the call and agreed to meet Alec at the beach a few days later. Jim searched for a long time and finally was able to scoop and recover the ring from the depths of ocean. An amazed and excited Alec, was all smiles. Great work Jim.

Wedding RING Lost & Then Recovered

Kayl and Stephanie were visiting their grandparents for a short relief from the winter weather in Chicago. It was a windy cold day but Kyle wanted to get into the gulf waters anyway. He ventured out into the rough water and was just contemplating put his head under the water when he saw is wedding ring of 6 months fall to the bottom of the gulf. He was devastated and started looking for it with his toes. After an hour he gave up and they went home.

They found The Ring Finders site on the internet and contacted Stan Flack. Stan posted their request to the SRARC Ring Finders group and Mike Miller relayed it to Jay and Karen Ganz. They met Kayl and Stephanie at the location and Karen did her best in the rough water to find it but was not successful. Karen rescheduled for the next calm water day and Mike met her in Englewood. After about 2 hours Mike was lucky enough to find the ring about 8 inches deep.

When Karen contacted Stephanie she could not believe we had found it. They had given up hope. Jay and Karen connected with Kayl and Stephanie’s Grandparents and returned the ring to them. They sent it on to Kaly and as you can see, the result is nothing but smiles.

He lost his wedding ring at the beach.

Lost Heirloom Ring Recovered Sand Castle Lido Beach, Florida

Grace and her husband were down for a family reunion from Indiana for the week. On Friday afternoon, she decided to swim out to join her Mom and Dad on the sandbar in front of their hotel. Shortly after arriving she felt the ring that her grandmother had given her slip off her finger! The ring was special to Grace because her grandmother had chosen it for her from jewelry that she had had for many years. Since Grace’s grandmother was there with the family it was especially hard to tell her it was lost.

The family searched the sandbar for hours but could not find it. That night Grace did a search on Google “what to do when you lose a ring in the ocean” and up popped SRARC. She emailed the web site and Stan Flack contacted her. Stan called Mike Miller to see if he could meet her before they had to leave at 9:00 a.m. the next morning. Mike met her and got the details for the search. She said it was just up on front part of the first sandbar and off Mike went to the area she pointed to. It didn’t take long for Mike to figure out he could not walk out to the first sandbar. He had never attempted to swim with his detector and scoop but there is always a first time for everything so off he went. With a little effort, he made it and about 10 minutes later the ring came up in his scoop. The return trip was a little more difficult and he was out of breath when he finally touched bottom again. He does not recommend that anyone try that unless they have a float device so they won’t get into trouble. Grace and all her family were all very happy and amazed that the ring was recovered. SRARC is just as happy to have had the opportunity to help put a smile back on their faces! Well done, Mike! We are all glad you’re an excellent swimmer!
